Following its £4.2 million pound rebuild, No. 60103 has graced the main line again after more than 10 years. Flying Scotsman is still considered to be the most famous locomotive in the world and recent publicity has brought the general public’s interest to the forefront. Rare Pathe News film of the locomotive at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1925; aerial sequences in the 1920s; Kings Cross in January 1963 as Alan Pegler takes ownership; film of the 40th anniversary run in 1968; preparations for export to the USA in 1969. We also feature archive of the locomotive in BR times and follows its fortunes and misfortunes since purchase by Alan Pegler in 1963. Archive film of its activities on the main line right up to 2003 are included. Footage of the test runs of 60103 on the East Lancs Railway and of its ‘Inuagural’ run from Kings Cross to York and at the North York Moors Railway in early 2016.
