Caab Ride No 40 – Barrow to Carlisle (2xdvds)

£19.95

Description

Part two of our 3rd October 1990 dvd, Cab Ride No.40, covers the northern section of the prettiest provincial route in the country, ‘probably’. The eighty-five mile stretch of line from Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle features twenty-four intermediate stations although only five are booked stops.

We filmed aboard a Heaton based Class 108 Derby lightweight unit numbers 53958 and 54227. These   DMUs are specific motive power for the route and feature bars on the windows to prevent passengers from leaning out on the limited clearance northern section.

The industrial scenes of Workington contrast with the beauty of the Braystones section of coastline.

Our thanks to Driver Teddy Benson from Barrow, Inspector Walter Wood from Manchester and PRO Steve Young accompanied us. Of course our thanks to BR (Midland) Public Relations.
