Cab Ride No.19 – Aberdeen to Inverness

This dvd, Cab Ride No.19, was recorded on 2nd August 1988 on the 09.05 train from Aberdeen to Inverness, aboard 47515 “Night Mail” (allocated to Old Oak Common!).
The route is that of the Great North of Scotland Railway as far as Kieth and the Highland Railway from there to Inverness. Any fascinating semaphore signals remain, but these will be going soon as part of the Inverness re-signalling scheme and the loco-hauled trains are to be replaced by Sprinters.
We are indebted to Scottish Region Public Affairs and especially Bob Docherty for arranging this cab ride and to Driver Bob Simpson and Inspector Duncan Lachlen for their hospitality and anecdotes.
