This dvd, Cab Ride No.46, was recorded on the 19th April 1990 aboard Class 150/1 “Sprinter” Unit No. 150131 on the 13.06 Chester to Birmingham New Street via Shrewsbury.
The weather was fine for the major part of the journey, with the exception of a little rain on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. However, immediately after Shrewsbury the heavens opened, so this programme has been restricted to that part of the route from Chester to Shrewsbury only.
At the time the line had only been partially rationalised and signals and sidings remained at Weston Rhyn, Baschurch and Haughton. We pass a plain blue painted DMU as well as the Chirk Speedlink with timber — quite nostalgic!
Our thanks are due to the Inspector and locomotive crews involved.
