Railscene & Railtape

‘Railscene the Magazine’ and ‘Railtape on DVD’
This 40-strong series is now available on DVD with issues from Autumn 1984 through to Autumn 1993 and also now complimented by the release of the first 30 issues of ‘Railtape’ onto DVD format. The remainder will be issued in the New Year.
These archive programmes show a great wealth of information on our railways since 1984 and cover a fascinating period. A few examples of the contents are listed below and full details of each programme are available on our web site or by contacting us for a printed version.
Three examples of ‘Railscene DVD magazine’ include editions number 7, 16 and 21.
Railscene No. 7 Spring 1986 – This DVD includes such items as the ‘Dutch Weekend’ where the last workings of the ex-BR EM2 electrics were operating; A feature on the stone traffic on BR; feature on the KWVR with engines at the time such as the 4F, 8F, Ivatt and Big Jim; Steam in South Africa; the Hastings unit on the Settle-Carlisle; Green Arrow and Evening Star in Scotland; Andover Open Day;
Barmouth Bridge reopening and many other news items.
Railscene No. 16 Autumn 1988 – This edition has one of the most incredible news items seen on film! As part of the Blackmore Vale Express event based at Salisbury, No. 34092 City of Wells is seen ‘racing’ to Yeovil on the down line as a Class 33 with an inspection saloon follows alongside on the up line. Sequences of the two trains as they progress around Sherborne going in the same direction, must be seen!
Other items in issue No. 16 include the Westoe colliery on South Tyneside featuring the unique NCB electric shunters – now all gone since closure in 1993. The final newspaper trains are filmed in July 1988 and Mallard on one of its anniversary specials.
Railscene No. 21 Winter 1989/90 – This DVD includes all six preserved Deltics at work on heritage railways; archive films around the UK in colour from 1965; the Western Region track recording train on-board and by the lineside; West Highland steam featuring 3442, 5305 and 44871 and many diesel classes at the time at work.
These are just three samples of the varied and historical nature of the Railscene series. Each issue is priced at £14.95
